How do you wire a 12 volt spotlight to a 36 volt system golf cart?

with a dropping resistor or just hit two of the six for twelve volts, sounds like the batteries are wired in series pairs so if they are in line it’s 12 , 24 and 36 volts made up of two 6 volt batteries each, get a test lamp and check the first set, I’ll bet I’m correct, tag onto that set and there you go. test lamps are a couple of bucks at auto zone, or if your brave get a VOM (volt-ohm meter) and it will tell you what voltage you van get from where.
Get a 36 to 12 volt reducer. If you run a light, or anything else, from only two of the 6V batteries you will discharge the batteries unevenly and may cause early battery failure. See the link below.
